Outcomes

Each day, Grandfather Home celebrates the success and progress of the children in our care. Below are some of our recent success stories that represent the outcome for many of the children we serve.   Please click here to view the 2010 Outcome Study.

Grandfather Home recently released its 2011 annual report, featuring highlights of ministry church partners, volunteers, successful child stories, outcomes and financial information.  Click here to view the Annual Report.

One year ago we admitted a seventeen year old girl, Elaina, into our program. Her birth mother had taken her to a women’s shelter and abandoned her. The mother’s boyfriend had beaten her badly. We placed her into a wonderful foster home and quickly enrolled her in school. She really enjoyed school and began making straight A’s. She recently graduated and was the valedictorian for her senior class! The principal also selected her as the Ambassador for the school! We are very proud of Elaina.

Jordan was admitted into our ministry last spring. He has Down’s syndrome, is legally blind and requires special orthopedic shoes in order to walk. His birth father was not involved in his life, and his mother had become overwhelmed with many stresses in her own life.

Jordan was placed with one of our loving foster families, Wendy and Gary Pruitt. Wendy immediately began doing research in preparation of Jordan’s arrival. She discovered appropriate toys and technology to help her develop Jordan’s abilities. Wendy joined a local support group. The Pruitts worked closely with the occupational, physical and speech therapists to learn how to keep Jordan at home. They kept Jordan at a specialized school which was not close to their home but offered the services he desperately needed. They remained in constant contact with the teachers caring for Jordan, and he soon began to make progress.

Wendy invited Jordan’s birth mother, Diane, to the support group meetings, and they began to attend together. The Pruitts helped Diane learn how to work with Jordan so she could continue his success.

Jordan returned to his birth mother’s home this past fall, and he is doing very well. The Pruitts maintain a close relationship with Diane and continue to ensure that Jordan is making progress and receiving the love, attention and special care that he needs.
