The Grandparents’ Club of Grandfather Home for Children:
This club is made up of many individual chapters. All of the funds raised by these chapters are held in a restricted account by Grandfather Home for Children. 100% of the funds raised are used for specific needs of the children under our care. All funds donated are tax-deductible.
Job Objective
The Grandparents’ Club Host is the point person that enlists a specific group of individuals (friends, neighbors, contacts at their club or church or other specific group) to become a member of a Grandparents’ Club. Membership is obtained by a minimum donation of $100 and renewal annually. Communication is a function of the Host.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Plans a list of individuals who will be contacted about becoming members of a specific Grandparents’ Club chapter.
- Writes a letter of solicitation that communicates the reason for the club and how to become a member. These letters will be printed by Grandfather Home for Children but should have the Host’s return address on the envelope and should be signed by the Hosts. Only one letter should be printed for each chapter – if there are multiple hosts, the hosts may personalize with a signature and/or hand-written note.
- Collects all donations directly – With multiple hosts at a club, this may be done by including a return envelope going to one hosts address.
- Delivers all donations of Grandfather Home for Children for processing (or sets up a pickup) within a week of receiving donations. For those concerned with privacy, the envelopes may remain unopened. This will ensure that the donations are acknowledged correctly and credited to the correct account.
- Reviews all future correspondence and quarterly updates that will be addressed to the specific club members. All correspondences should have the Hosts signature.
- **It is strongly recommended that the Hosts also write a short thank you note (or phone call) to all that become members or make contributions to the club. This may be done directly to the letter or on a post-it note.
