Employment Opportunities
Grandfather Home for Children offers outstanding human service opportunities in a challenging employment environment with considerable tangible and intangible rewards. We provide a continuum of care for children in a variety of therapeutic settings throughout western North Carolina. These include:
- A residential treatment center located in Banner Elk
- Community based group homes in Asheville, Winston-Salem, Clyde, and Cullowhee
- Therapeutic and Family Foster Care throughout western North Carolina
In addition to our exceptional locations, envied for their quality of life, we maintain a standard of excellence recognized by two national accreditation bodies, the Counsel on Accreditation (COA) and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). Our facilities are maintained to provide an extraordinary treatment environment and workplace. Our staff is provided continuous training in non-traditional and innovative methods of serving the needs of children entrusted to our care.
We emphasize promotion from within, including genuine advancement within our direct care roles. These staff members are equipped to serve as true paraprofessionals in milieu treatment, not in the background between occasionally scheduled professionals. The combined emphasis upon teamwork and serious mentoring supervision provides for the maximization of professional development for each willing staff person.
Please visit our position vacancies page to see the most current list of job openings. All our staff begin employment on a three-month probationary period, after which a satisfactory formal performance review would lead to strong medical coverage, vacation available at 10 days annually. After one year, participation in a generous pension plan is available.
